Super Imp In Action

mtntopper

Back On Track
Our winter snow has been lacking but the past week the snow Gods began to smile on us finally. We had snow most of last week so this past Sunday we took the Super Imp out to plow the vehicle parking area and took a couple pics and videos of the snow cat we are using for our personal use this year.

The 1450 Super Imp has a very nice 2 passenger cab up front. We can carry 4 to 6 more people in the rear cabin with heat and plenty of light from the large windows. "Boggie" built the rear cab and we are very happy with the complete cat for our winter access cat to our home in the mountains. We are using the tracked Jimmys on a daily basis as commuters and the Super Imp as the workhorse and adventure cross country snow cat.

That is the rear cab designed by Boggie with my input as to what I wanted and his great ideas on how to get it done at a reasonable price. The only major project for the snow cat yet to be done is new paint for the cat to exactly match the new rear passenger cab in the future.

What do you have? Straight pipes on the exhaust! That was either really loud, or you have a heck of a mike on the camera...

Neat rig too...

The Super Imp snowcat is quiet. The camera mic is just super sensitive.... wait until you hear my wife narrate an audio while doing the video if you think the Imp was loud......:whistling:

That is the controls for the 8 way front blade..............:ermm: Still has the stick steer like all Imps.............

:doh:Shoulda realized that. Just a word of caution though...those blade controls remind me of the controls on a BR160 with the sticks. DO NOT.........I repeat.......NOT forget that they are there when you get in and out of the drivers seat. They could have a tendency to line up perfectly with a certain area of a mans body which is somewhat sensitive to pain. Don't ask me how I know:doh: After running the lamtrac for years with a regular steering wheel, I've had a slight tendancy to forget the steering controls were there and, well, let's just say it was a painful reminder to me to remember those controls.:whistling:

Beautiful cat! What did you use for soundproofing? The thiacol we used to have was very loud. Not only the engine noise, but the sheet metal would vibrate at certian engine speeds. Conversation was next to impossible. That passanger compartment looks perfect! The snow looks pretty great too!

Another video from the cab of my super quiet other Super Imp with only the music going for foggy.....:yum:

And a free ride for those who have never taken a ride in a snow cat............:whistling:

This video was done last year from my other Thiokol Super Imp.....

Neat, my Imp though wasn't even close to being that quiet, and for me to hear music that nicely, it required about 1500 watts per speaker... so man, you got to get some ear protection!:ermm:
