Sterling engine project

I have a new mini 3 in one mill, lathe, drill. I am thinking that I should have a go and try to build a simple model sterling engine. I have done some web searches on the topic, there is plenty of information on the subject but I was wondering if anyone from FF has build any type of model engine and if so what have you built and how difficult was it?

My Neighbor builds model hit and miss engines using a mill and lathe in his garage. I attempted to post a link to photobucket but was not allow by the board.

I have helped him turn a few flywheels and mill some parts.
He told me "Do you know how you can teach yourself to build Engines?...Get a 55 gallon pail to throw all of your mistakes in it. If you fill up the pail before you get an engine running, get another pail."

So the sooner you start creating the scrap, the sooner you will make something you are proud of. Go for it.

Found this diagram of a Sterling engine on wikipedia. Is this what you're building?

Pink - Hot cylinder wall
Dark grey - Cold cylinder wall (with coolant inlet and outlet pipes in Yellow)
Dark Green - Thermal insulation separating the two cylinder ends
Light Green - Displacer piston
Dark Blue - Power piston
Light Blue - Flywheels
Not Shown: external heat-source, and external heat-sinks. In this design the Displacer piston is used without a regenerator.

Man there are easier fixes than mechanical contraptions! Viagra is a popular drug here in the U.S.. I am sure Australias Socialized health care system can do something for you.

I think someone pulled a fast one on wikipedia. They could have displayed a model like this...

I have not started a sterling engine but one day I will attempt to build one. There are thousands of sterling engine designs out there some very simple and others quite complex. Some are so simple that they can be built using tin cans.

Snowcat Operations I feel sorry for you, you are warped.
