A few years ago, I had my starter go out on the Imp (had to endure a pull start from Roughwood's Snowtrac).

Had a dicken's of a time trying to find a replacement since the basic model was obsolete. After a bunch of checking around, I found a replacement starter at CarQuest. It is about a 1/4" wider on the motor, but is common and the starter nose/bendex is the same and it turns over the engine faster and fits very well in the mount. The number will cross over to NAPA and other brands. The core was one dollar.... so that tells you want they think of the old starter...

Yep, same starter, the CarQuest number applies for them too.... Went to a bunch of other auto parts stores and the people behind the counter didn't want to put any effort to track it down. The Guys at CarQuest really got into finding it and did a good job of tracking it down.
