What rpm do most of you use for cruise on your Snow Tracs? I have been looking over a lot of the Snow Trac articles and have been unable to figure out what is reasonable operating rpm.
My Snow Master is a 1979 and appears to be basically stock. I run at 7000’ MSL +- 500’ and realize that my horsepower is about 25% below factory rating.
I have been using an rpm range of about 2600 to 3400. Below 2600 the machine is lugging and the 3400 high end I chose as that is where the tach reference needle was when I got the machine. 3400 in 4th gear gives about 10 mph which I am good with. Happier with time on the trail than time/dollars in the shop!
Am I correct that the Snow Trac is a bit higher geared than the Snow Master? A lot of the videos appear to show the Snow Tracs moving faster than my Snow Master goes!
