ST4 Whats it worth???

Hello all. I am not super familiar with the ST-4. I have the opportunity to purchase this cat but not sure what they go for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what engine was put in but its a liquid cooled something....

Not running, tracks and tires show wear and cracking but no major tears.

Maybe $5k tops or less if they will go for it. Looks like it wouldn't take much to have it running. IMHO the conversion may not be a good thing, depending on how it was done.

i wouldn,t give over 2500 bucks for it it looks to be in good condition if you want to drive it like mins gets driven you are going to have paln to tear it down to the trans axle to replace the output seals a new varriator belt is going to be over a hundred bucks my experiance with the liquid cooled engine conversions is they leave the front end heavy and its always pitching forward ine reason i havn't done it to mine yet even though i have heard of some impressive horse power and torque from them

I agree. I have experience with VW engines and there are some great aftermarket parts to get those engines running great. I was thinking a fair price would be around $2,000.

i think thats a fair price for a good project the last non runner i bought with no glass i gave 2500 for and the one i'm driving now i gave 1k for but it was rough with only good tracks

I am new to snow cats, ( so take my opinion accordingly) I recently paid a bit more than that for a non runner ST-4. My thought process goes like this.

recently:
Middle of the road runners are automatic sells at the 4-5K price. Non runners complete (OEM) sell quickly in the 3-4 area. (There are many threads that point out what the parts are worth). Less than perfect runners don't sell over 6-7 K. Really cherry desirable machines have pushed the 15K mark.(cut down masters or 4B's bring 10K in quick order)

What I see in your photos, A changed variator belt. unfinished install of a liquid cooled motor (non VW) Or a start at changing a timing belt... Not sure.
Seems to be a big wheeled two belt machine with the tracks fairly tight.
And mostly complete.
That machine is exactly what I was looking for earlier this year. So I would probably exceed the market or street value for that machine as that is what I enjoy fixing/ want to do with this hobby.

could be a cross over rig aktiv pioneered teh 3 band track with the big wheel i have seen some british and icelandic tracs with 2 band tracks and big wheels my guess is it's a conversion on this one it kind of looks like a three band sprokey also but from the pics it looks like 2 band grousers and also a 2 band track i would love to have a little closer picture of the sproket assembly to see how 3 band sprokets were made to work. as the three band sprokets are much heavier duty. my guess there was some mixing of parts.
