spryte pulling to the right

I have a 1969 1202B spryte...I had to put a new(used) front axel in last year, but only found one that was to wide. Had to narrow it up. I got it in and now it has a slight pull to the right.

It has new brake bands and they arent grabbing and as far as i can tell the track tension on both sides are the same.. is there some other ajustment i can make?

the track adjusters are all the way back.. can i just move one side or the the other to make it run staighter??

thanks

are you sure that the replacement axle isn't bent or warped from being shortened. i would suggest measuring from end to end on the front and back sides of the axle and also top and bottom if any of the measurements are off then the axle needs straightened.

My ultimate guess is that your front axel needs to be shifted left- wear on the front tires should be immediately evident. If your brakes are properly set, make sure you don't have a bad bearing set that is causing drag on the right side. Otherwise check measurement between inside belts in front and then in the back to check rough alignment.

I have the same 1201 B 1969 and also had a problem with pulling to one side. The belts on the track were original, probably late 70's early 80's and looked in pretty good shape. A very experienced LMC Mech suggested this:

If you were to remove the tracks and lay them on a smooth floor side by side, its likely that as look down the length of the tracks they will bow to one side or another. They are no longer straight. It's likely that one track is more bowed then the other. You can fix the problem by flipping the tracks from one side to another, AND the track that was most bowed, put it on backwards. We found no performance or traction issues.

I realize this can take a few hours and since you just replaced the axel it's likely the problem. Keep in mind, that the front left and right wheels should be towed in slightly. It's hard to see this with the tracks on. I attached a picture, sorry for the measurements, but you can see how the front wheels are slightly pointed inward. Also, measure the distance from the center of the drive sprocket to the center of the front wheel. Both sides must be the same length.

Hope this helps.
