Soros PANICS as Trump and Elon DEFUND and BANKRUPT His NGOs!!!

This is awesome news.

I also saw a story that several Catholic Bishops are stomping their feet over some of the defunding. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops, which generally oversees the organization called "Catholic Charities," seems to be somewhat a left-of-center group. While I am Catholic, I stopped giving to the group "Catholic Charities" long ago. A few Bishops have spoken about the fact that nations do, legitimately, have the right to defend their borders, but others, which are foisted up by the liberal media, are getting a lot more attention for complaining about the NGO funding cuts.

I know that SOME NGOs are doing great humanitarian things. Others, not so much.

If the American people want to do humanitarian things, they can donate personally. I, as a tax prayer, should not have my money taken from me for these charities.
As for the Catholic church, they pay no taxes. We should end that perk completely.

I agree 100%

As for the NGOs like "Catholic Charities" there is no real reason to fund them with gubmint mandated taxpayer money. But Catholic Charities is just one of 1000. Lutheran and Jewish charities, as well as many others (both religious and NOT religious), get as much or more funding from the government. But people, myself included, know of "Catholic Charities" as an entity. For the most part, we don't know about the others, by name.

I would actually disagree with this. Not singling out Catholic churches, but I do believe that legitimate religions, which do charitable things, should be tax exempt. It actually helps encourage donations in our tax code, so private individuals get deductions for donating to charities and, to my mind, that is a net good for society.

There are a lot of charities that would likely not exist without tax exempt status and many do great things like foster & adoption services. Run hospitals (both St Jude's and Shriner's Children's hospitals). Fund schools, from elementary thru collegiate. And much more that enriches society. So I don't have an issue with allowing tax exempt status, at least in many cases.

There are so many "churches" run by pastors that are a farce and a front for illegal activities. Go through any blighted area and there are "churches", "tabernacles", etc, that are clearly not.
They pay no taxes.
It's a money laundering scheme.

Also, once a church turns political, the plug needs to be pulled. The Catholic Church falls into that category lately. Maybe it'll change once the current guy goes away.

I totally agree The Boy Scouts troll for money at the council level which part go's to main office BSA Texas
I circumvent that cut and hand the treasure cash directly so it stays off the books because council audits the books to make sure you not spending it on non approved expenses.

Not much I disagree with.

But one can give to a charitable group, which is legitimate, and those should, I believe, retain tax exempt status.
