Sophie

Av8r3400

Gone Flyin'
I had to put my beloved kitty, Sophie to sleep today.

Sophie was my mother's cat and her soul-companion in the final years of her life. After my mom's passing two years ago, Sophie came to live with my wife and me. She was 17 years old and had lived a long, happy life. She finally suffered total kidney failure, a common ailment for elderly cats.

In 1994, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I found Sophie, an adorable fuzzy little kitten, outside our garage window. She had a flea collar on and we thought that she had just wandered off from somewhere nearby. We shooed her off that night figuring she would go home. She didn't. Long story short she came to live with my parents. I left for my life in January 95, my dad passed in August of that year, leaving that fuzzy little angel as my mom's only full time companion until her passing in 2009.

She was the last tangible contact I had with my mom. I miss them both.

So sorry to hear, the loss of a companion is hard to deal with,Sophie is with mom and dad clawing up the furniture up there now:flowers:

It's never easy doing the right thing for a pet when their time comes. I've done it 5 or 6 times, and teh last time was for my 14 year old lab mix back in September. I still think about her when I'm around my guns and fishing equipment, which she shared with me. Sorry for your loss.

Rest in beautiful peace Sophie.
I think God has a special place for kitties and doggies when He gently leads them back to the arms of their original master.

Larry, I know how you feel about losing her and HER.
But Sophie is now back with Mom and all is well.

Sorry to hear Av8r . Purdy cat and great pic to remember her by, Their never really gone as long as their not forgotten, which goes for all loved one's.

The loss of a pet is a sad time, indeed but when they are the pets who belonged to parents who have gone on, I think it is more difficult. As you said, Sophie was the last tangible connection with your mom and as you mourn Sophie's passing, I imagine it has awakened your sorrow from the loss of your mom as well. You are in my thoughts.
