Some recent thoughts

Gone But Not Forgotten
Been thinking about taking some time for myself to travel a little while I still can. Might have to dig the camper out of the barn shortly and go over it and just take off and see where I end up. Need to get the woodshed loaded and garden started but after that a week or so may be what I need. Ain't never took a real vacation in 44 years of working so I don't feel guilty about it. Some folks will piss and moan regardless but I have a hearing problem to help with that. Have had a few invites to visit folks and a few may tell me to keep driving. That is OK also. Hell, I might even track down Nixon. I know where Big Dog and Zoomer live and they will give up Nixon's whereabouts with minimal pain applied.:yum:Might just turn it into another FF adventure or something. Have an open script from the one doc for bloodwork and can always get shots if needed along the way. There has to be a little more to life than doctor visits, tests and pills. I can catch hell sitting still or moving so it is all good.:flowers:

I think you should just do that. You thinking about garden already? Gee we won't be able to plant at least for three more months.

Onions and peas are going in early. Just waiting for it to dry up so I can lime garden and pasture. Tempted to get the cows early this year. Will pick 2 out this week and write the tag #'s down. Have a bunch of puddles in the fields and pasture right now.

I think you should get away from all of the stuff that's stressing you lately.. and that's all I'm gonna say about it!

I took a similar trip last fall. No real agenda, no time limits. Bought one of those pickup bed tents and an air mattress fitted to my truck. Spent some time with friends, a lot of time by myself and made a few new friends. It will probably be the last time I can do this, but enjoyed every minute.

If you get this way, let me know, I have a warm shower, a couple of bottles of the world's best, and an extra bed.

If you happen to be in the area, I'd buy you dinner somewhere.
Course, I need advance notice etc.. don't like surprises..
I think Gretchen would love meeting someone who loves animals as much as her Mommy does.

Jimbo, you are right below Richmond if I remember correctly. Could cut across 64 from Staunton I believe. PG, that little weiner dog is gut driven like all dogs. Bologna and cheese are travel essentials and great for making friends with. I could always swing by JEV and rob some sticky buns from him!:clap:Might even brave Cleveland again for them.

I thought I remembered seeing that town on many trips down 95 over the years. Pretty country once you leave the interstate and get out exploring. Did a battlefield tour of civil war sites many years ago. All the way from Georgia to Virginia and Maryland. Used to run 15 down from Gettysburg to miss the crazy D.C. traffic and pick up 95 below Richmond. After horse and buggy traffic around here that 8 lane shit is a pain. It is probably 10 or 12 lanes now.

Both 95 and 64 are still 4 lane (2 each way) highways, but they don't get too crowded. We have a lot of old presidential homes and the homes of other early leaders of our country.

Get outside northern Va and Richmond, and Va is quite beautiful.

Muley, buy a 10 buck seniors pass if you don't already have one. Lets you camp in any national park for a very low fee. Blue Ridge, for instance, costs 10 to enter, or free with the pass.

If you decide to head south let me know. As long as I'm not overloaded with work(a rare situation lately), I would be happy to spend a little time with you.

I see a W. PA/NE OH get-together in my mind...

Nixon is easy to find. Cruise down 79 a bit and park at a rest area. Listen closely and you'll hear a bunch of "Damn it. I know this saw and splitter is supposed to work but it doesn't do squat for me". Head for the noise and keep your eyes open. He'll be the one all dressed up in dapper looking boots, chaps and helmet.

Bring your sorry ass over here and I'llmake you dinner and can even give you a room with a shower and indoor toilet for six bits.:brows:

If so let me know and I might be able to head up that way. Or if you get in the SE Ohio area be sure to give me a shout so we can hook up. :thumb:

Probably a bit away from your planned travel area, but if you want to see some of the Great Plains in Kansas Dragonfly Lady
and I would be pleased to stand you to dinner!

That is funny! I had him on the phone and was playing with him as he did not know the voice or number. Once I told him the Amish would show him how to cut wood he knew who it was.:yum::yum:

Can I dump my holding tanks on the front yard? They won't be bad as I don't haul water except my big 5 gallon cooler and what is in the fridge.:whistling: It sure is nice to always have your own toilet along. Especially if you take Lasix!

Is Idaho close to any of those spots ???
Yep! You get your skinny butt to an airport and fly to Pittsburgh. Big dog don't know it yet but we are all going to meet up on my way back at his place. He has this big party garage we can rock in!:whistling:

Give me a yell and I'll by you dinner up there or down here.

I did 100 miles to clear my head on my motorcycle today (burrr) some times you just have to let loose!

tom

Some rerouting or change of plans may be happening before it ever gets started. Appreciate the many offers folks. :flowers:

You have guns. I respect that.:clap:
hmmmmmm.. I'd never use those guns on you.

We'll meet, and hug and eat and talk about the things that have been bugging the shit out of both of us.
God knows there's been enough of that.
