Snowtrac st4 belting and throttle cable.

Hello everyone I'm a new snowtrac owner. A few days ago I bought 3 of them. Lol. 2 st4's and a snowmaster. I was curious about belting. Would the 2 ply 220 belting be sufficient. I was also curious about what everyone was using for throttle cables on their machines. The snowmasters broke as we were driving it on the trailer. thanks

Thanks for the link. Awesome read and pics. I also work in the prudhoe bay oilfield now for 18 years. I need to finish up a couple other projects before starting on these machines but #344 is apart and soda blasted already. #205 is running and driving. Can't wait to start on these things.

So I still have the question what is the best belting for a 2 band st4. Im only going to build tracks once. Just want to make sure I'm using the correct material.

I have 3 running driving st4's each has different belting. the machine I love to beat on has 3 ply with a heavy 3mm cover on the in and outside. it sees lots of mud sand and dirt in addition to snow so the heavy cover seems appropriate. Corn stalks seem to like to stab right through thin belting and I just don't have time for that. the machine that sees mostly light dry snow has 2 ply or 220-1 there is no cover it is very light.

the last machine has 3 ply 330-3 there is a 3 mm cover on the inside and I have no idea why its built that way. I have heard some folks say the heavy cover tolerates the working of the backing plate better.

weight is heavy so go as light as you can is all i can add

Appreciate the reply. Guess I'll try out the 2 ply 220 3-1-1 first and see how that does. These machines will only be used in winter. Probably go heavier on the snowmaster. I'm new to this so their will be alot of experiments.
