Hey guys: I'm looking to buy a snow track but don't know much about them. Here is the data on the tag. AKTIV FISCHER AB typ st4 no/ 1990 morgan c ava sweden. The thing is in good unrestored condition, but I don't know what to offer the guy and he dosen't know a price.

I have to agree with Don, we need pictures because condition is really the determining factor with these things. Some things to look for are cracks in the belting. If the belting needs to be replaced the belts are cheap but the job is a pretty big job to take off all the old parts and install them on new belts. Engines are pretty much basic VW industrial and as long as they are reasonably maintained they are pretty much bulletproof little engines. Check for cracks in the Variator housing, that is the mechanism that turns the Snow Trac. The Variator is a proprietary part and if broken would be a deal breaker. The floor of the Snow Trac is plywood, it really will last for years, even decades, as long as it is allowed to dry. Soft floor requires a replacement of the plywood and like the belts, the plywood is cheap, but the job to replace it is a big one.
