Snowcat Spark Plug Wires: Duralast or Bosch?

I need to replace the spark plug wires in my Snow Trac (damn mouse)!

So Autozone has their own brand called DURALAST that cost $20. Bosch is $29 per set. The Bosch set uses silicone for the insulators, not sure about the Duralast construction. Both have "lifetime" warranties.

Any preference? Part of me says: Never, ever buy cheap electrical items for vehicles. Good parts will never save you money in the long run. Part of me says: You are paying and extra $10 for the brand name but the stuff in the box is probably the same!

Do the both plug wires have the size printed on the side ? many do . Both are lifetime warranty so I would say its a toss up . Bosch is a great company and turns out fine products . I been real happy with Auto Zone on stuff I have purchased that needed to be replaced later .

Al, as to the wire size printed on the box. NO. At least not the Bosch box. I'd have to go back and check them both again to see for sure about the Duralast, but I didn't see anything on the box of Bosch wires when I looked.

i'm guessing mine are bosch but they still have the copper core wires if you can get some of those from a speed shop get them not like you have any radios to worry about other wise as far as carbon core wires go i would say go with the duralast and save some money imho carbon core wires need to be changed out every 3 years anyway under normal use you could probly stretch it out to more time with occasional use

I would think they are probably 7mm or 8mm wires . Do you have a radio/CD to worry about static or interference ? Some wires are better if you do .

I have a FRS unit and a SAT NAV unit in the Snow Trac, but nothing like a stereo.

I'm leaning toward the BOSCH set since I can't find a bad review about them and I have added other BOSCH parts to the Snow Trac over the last couple of years without any problems.

Go Bosch , They are a proven brand that last ! $10 won't matter much if the other wires let you down in the snow .
Besides that, can't you get them in that real pretty blue color !!!!! :w00t2:

I will register a dissenting opinion, as I will only use Bosch wires in a pinch. They don't seem to deal well with moisture, either condensation or the very fine snow that can filter into an engine compartment. I have had good luck with NGK, Bougicord, and way back when, I had some yellow NAPA/Belden silicone wire that I bought in bulk and cut to length. (At the time, the stock Napa wires were junk.)
Bosch makes good stuff, but I have always found their wires to be lacking.

Of course, the Duralast product may be no better, so maybe this isn't helpful...

your gps has me thinking now i like the redundantcy of the old copper core wires but i to have plams to add a gps and i will also have to change mi wires out to carbon core noise supperesion wires.
