Well it has been an interesting week to say the least.... Get a phone call from a guy that has an obsession (well something anyway????) And he says what do you think about a set of Mattracks?????? We are both a little skeptical and do not quite know what to think??? But decides that he should probably have a set (You see this guy I know seems to want to own every make and model snowcat they have ever made). So we go and pick them up on thurs. We are both surprised when we get there they are a set of later model aluminum Mattracks. So Friday I put the set on so we can have a little fun on the Mtn:17875: :1062::beer: !!! Well the installation was pretty straight forward (Bolt them on like tires install anti rotation Hardware on truck) took most of the day, install, test drive, re torque, test drive, and re torque again... The capabilities of these tracks are pretty good!! 3-4Ft of drifted snow it would start to drag bottom, But keep trucking along. These are not a snowcat but pretty impressive, NO wheeled truck or Jeep is going to follow you where these will take you. Here are some pics I am sure more will be added to this thread as winter goes on!!!!:thumb:

Now, I have an obsessive compulsive disorder. What's new? I just like to try different and interesting over snow vehicles.

Thanks Mike for all your help in picking them up in Montana and the installation you did was first class. You just need to figure out how and why the Mattracks manual says 30 minutes and why it took you 8 hours? :yum: :1062:
Great job of you driving me around yesterday in the back country and not even getting stuck. Of course we were always within an hours walking time of the snow cats and home. You really wanted to stick the pickup with the Mattracks and then take pics and post them of me and my stuck pickup. :thumb:

They even surprised me of their capabilities but again I agree they are not a snow cat. I like the ability to run them on open roads up to 40 MPH. We did make it to 32 MPH on the paved county road yesterday and they held together. They are a little tough to maneuver in tight turning spots such as gates. You need to be moving when turning to complete a turn. It was really nice to turn the heater on, FM radio tunes up, and crack open a cold one and watch the highway traffic go by from the top of the snow covered mountain side as everyone going by took a double take and a quick slowdown to try figure our how a pickup was up there on top of all the snow... :4_11_9:

Thats a pretty cool set up! Now you can tow your rig and snowcat on crappy roads! You can go as fast as you can safley go with chains. What are the rpms your turning at 32mph? I would imagine your turning quite a bit faster.

Well, Mtn Topper took me out in my truck again today.. Getting a little spoiled by the smooth ride and warmth..I had some old lettuce and salad fixings I needed to go feed our neighbors wild rabbits today.:thumb:

You are in the wild west they still have hang man's ropes. The rabbit on the left must be the judge. Or were you just showing Bill what happens if he buy's to many toys. :yum: :yum:

We don't use chairs for the person to stand on around here, we use "wheel barrows." That way we can haul them off in it.. Serves 2 purposes..hehe The rabbits are the witnesses..:pirate:
