Was told there is a pdf here with these, but not in my searches I have tried. Any opinions about safety glass instead of the tempered glass that was original? Safty glass I can get locally, temperd has to be ordered out.

Need a place to shoot out of this rig but the windshield is not quite what I had in mind!!:biggrin:

Thanks, Kirk

I ended up with tempered safety glass when I went to replaced mine(?). Maybe that's what your shop has or are they saying they only offer one or the other?

I personally liked the tupperware lid....:w00t2::poke:

I asked for tempered....cause that was original I am thinking. Laminated was available in 62? I am thinking not. But for in front of my eyeballs I am thinking laminated is just fine as it is/was used in windshield for many years.

I made an apointment with a place that cuts laminated and makes "house calls" to measure then they cut and return to reinstall

not sure what you want. I have all of lyndons files and one is the a copy of the orginal std. cabin glass from the factory. Blue print or what ever you call it. under material it has hard glass with the toralance chart. metric

Jim,

Sounds like what I want! How can I get a copy? Tempered glass is heat treated after it has been cut. Measurements work with both types naturally....

Thanks, Kirk

Being in the autoglass business I would recommend laminated for the forward facing glass and tempered for the side and rear, just like your car. The windshields should be able to take a hit and crack, but keep together. Tempered glass is stronger, but when it yields it will shatter into a zillion little nuggets, instead of cracking.

Any competent autoglass shop can cut the laminated to a pattern they would make from your vehicle. Shouldn't cost you more than $100-150, installed.

Tempered glass would require the shop to make a pattern and then have the glass made at a tempering factory. More lead time and expense, ~$200 for a pane of that size.

I'm pretty sure that the glass in a Snow Trac is special glass and without it your Snow Trac will perform miserably. Seems that replacement glass simply won't work for you. :whistling: I guess you've been taken advantage of, but don't worry, you can ship me your "parts machine" and I'll take good care of it for you.

The only problem is that you can't get 1/8" thick laminated glass. The stock glass is 1/8" thick so you would have to change out the rubber gasket also.

JSX,

So what would you recommend? Glad to see you are back safe and sound. Being it's the weekend I have till Monday to make up my mind..
