Any chance it could be Vee'd out a bit and TIG welded? I think I would be giving this a try....Earl, can he weld it....or have you asked? Got a feeling Earl and Lyndon have been here before.....

Mine has the cast wheel as well...

I was told that the pressure from snow on the inside causes it. The spare is going on today but I'm going to find some steel for next season.
I have the welders in my shop.

i have the aluminum one on one side and steel on the other is steel i have had no problems and yours could be welded back up western cascade has some of the best aluminum welders on the west coast.

nope i would guess a loading problem from water working it's way into the space between the hub flange and the wheel

Jim,

I tend to put my machine inside a warm shop when I am not using it. This would give any snow or water time to drain and dry up. Maybe this is a good thing for parts like the rear cast wheels. And moister in the exhaust doesn't seem to back up either....I found the left rear loose once this year however. Made a clicking sound as it shifted on the spindle, glad I caught it.

Maybe unkowingly I am doing the right thing, by keeping it in the warmth of the shop? I have wondered about keeping it outdoors....

Regards, Kirk
