Snow Trac video

I threw this together pretty fast. It could be a bit long, a bit boring, but it shows the trip we took last weekend up near Mt Hood.
I'll eventually put something together that's more exciting to watch but for now, here it is...

The wives stayed home on this one. I filmed it and am actually not in it myself. Just my friend and his two kids and my two kids. I think the wives want to go next time...:brows:

One of my kids is the skier, he towed behind the Snow Trac for about 25 miles. I thought he's last about 10 minutes. They all had a blast.

Cool that you got a chance for some family fun. Liked the video of the VW bus vacation. We did that with 9 of us all jammed in a 1963 VW bus that dad and I built a tent camper on top of. Went coast to coast and saw a lot of sights in that thing. Good times for sure.

Cool Muleman! Glad you saw that one too then. The Snow Trac trips are a lot like the bus trips just in the snow. The Bus trips I think are the best, least expensive family trips we can take. Kids are just the right ages and by now know the routine and are awesome travelers. Seems like anyone that's had a bus has fond memories of traveling, camping and breaking down. But the stories always bring a smile and I think my kids will be stoked that they had a chance to do this stuff. I know I am.
I'm looking forward to some overnight campouts with the Snow Trac.

Nice outing thanks for sharing.

My son broke his Go pro camera on our last outing, so no video of our adventures till we find something new.

that is some wet snow looks like a great trip i always like to take the kids along last year i had my little one on a charter and he got a 5dollar tip for pointing out some ptarmigan along the trail.

Glad you guys liked it. I'm looking forward to alot more trips and some deeper powder to go it. The snow was wet that day as it was maybe 50 degrees or so. Pretty much stayed on a packed road the whole time until the end where we took it out the bluff. It'll be a little while but I'd like to make a better video at the end of the season with more locations, vistas and hopefully some good snowboarding or skiing mixed in.
The weather is looking good again this weekend and hoping to take it out somewhere. Maybe toward Mt Adams...?
Also thought I'd mention that this was taken with a gopro camera, the new Hero 3 blk edition. I uploaded it with a lower quality but the camera takes incredible footage. I use it for everything that moves.

I didn't get to see the complete video but Is it working out ok without the snow deflectors?
Towing skiers is fun. They can ski off the road over the bank and come flying back up. just remember the tracks are going twice your speed and can pull a rope in really fast.
I keep my door open . jim

thnaks for the reminder on rope getting caught in the tracks. I give them a few reminders of that on the trail. But now I'm thinking I might extend the rope too.
As far as the lack of snow deflectors, I've had no problems at all yet but I am mostly taking it on snowmobile packed roads with spring like conditions. The snow that comes off the track is pretty minimal. The off road runs I've taken haven't been but a few hundred yards. I'd say the longest I've taken it in deep snow was a mile or so. It's on my list but right now I'm mostly getting used to it and making sure it's going to run ok so I haven't really pushed it too hard yet. The video was my longest run, about 25 miles or so. Snow deflectors and eventually some shocks....among other things are on my list
It's also a 2 band unit and from what I've read here it sounds like it clears the snow better than the 3 band units. Does that sound right?

One thing though, just tonight I noticed that I had a broken bolt. It's one of two that hold that center idler wheel to the strut that holds all the lower boogie wheels. The one that's upsidedown. It's the 2nd bolt on the same side I've broken in 3 runs. I am carring spares but does anyone else have this problem? Track too tight? It doesn't seem like it is. But seems like a lot of weight and leverage and vibration on those two bolts.

i don't think it's too tight try a grade 8 bolt and tighten it well. mine got welded on when i replaced the strut.
