Snow Trac fell in a hole???

One of our members from Iceland (Bjorn, who has posted under the name "oscarinn") runs the Icelandic Snow Trac Association website. :smileICEflag: He posted up some new photos recently and showed the rescue of a Snow Trac that took a nose dive off something steep into some soft snow. Took a wide tracked groomer to pull out the Snow Trac. Interesting to see the 2 machines in some of the later photos of the series as the little Snow Trac, with its skinny little tracks, is dwarfed by the groomer with what look to be ultra-wide tracks.

Here is a link to the rescue: http://www.123.is/album/allinone.aspx?fn=snowtrac&aid=209543&lang=en

Here are just a few of the pictures to whet your appetite, but the series contains 19 photos.

After a few beers it was actually disclosed that the groomer was stuck on flat ground and the Snow Trac was needed to pull it to the slope. The pictures in the series are actually posted in reverse sequence. The Snow Trac is simply towing the groomer out to the deep and steep :drink:

:yum: Childs play! I climb steeper longer hills than that hauling a drag full of snow!:poke:

That's just a pothole in the trail for me!:coolshade :coolshade

It looks to me like the PB is using the Snotrac as an anchor so they do not have a runaway when it is left unattended.....:poke:

Good thing for the Groomer that the SnowTrac was around to pull it off the flat area, must have been really scary for the Groomer guy...

I guess having all that track it pretty hard on them with no deep snow under them to get them "primed" for forward movement, kinda like a "Pitcher Pump" has to have water before it can pump water up from the well....:thumb:

Disclaimer: That is heavy sarcausim for those that don't grasp that, the SnowTrac didn't have to pull "that" hard to get the Groomer going again. :yum:

I hate it when that happens! Did snow tracs originally have seat belts? I imagine the pilot could have knocked his coconut on the windshield pretty good when that thing bottomed out! Must have been fun for the guy to have to untangle his nads from the steering wheel and crawl out of that thing too.

I don't know about you, but mine would have been safely tucked up in my throat after falling into a hole of unknown depth. :4_11_9:

That just doesn't sound right Dave... Do we need to move this thread to the MLR?

Silly place to park then go for a beer
Or was it. Go for a beer then try to park??????? I know how he feels,
I did that once with my 232. But I did not need a groomer to pull me out.
Just a big shovel. The wife was not impressed with my driving ability.
:shithitfan: :argueing: It was dark and I was in a whiteout.
Glad to see every one was ok. only a red face or two.
I like it when you see a small two track unit pulling a big groomer around.
:applause:
