snow trac drive chain tension

How much is 'a bit slack'?

Mine have a little play in them too. Are your chains sagging or are they just a little loose if you lift up on them?
 
with no load i like to see 1/2 to 3/4 inch of play you may also have to use some heat and penetrating oil to free the piviot shafts if they havnt been moved in a long time.
