Snow removal question ??

BigAl

Gone But Not Forgotten
I just picked up a real nice 8' "pick up type" Meyers snow plow . It does not look like it was ever used . Has the turn table and everything ,minus the hydraulic lift . I got it for $100 . I am thinking of mounting the frame support in my front bucket of my Kioti DK45 loader . I would then have a plow that I could angle if I wanted . I am thinking I could hinge pin it to the bucket . Anyone tried something like this ???
It looks something like this one .

Do you have a skidsteer qa on your fel? Just weld the "turn table" to a qa plate and then get some angle cylinders and you could plumb them into your hydraulics and you can have angle adjustment.

To reply to your question, Al. The answer is "yes".
If you have a knack for fabricating, a mount can be devised.
PB's suggestion is also a great one if you have the material available.

I bought a used Western two years ago. It needed a lot of work. I got the mount fabricated for my truck last winter and just rigged it up with chain to angle it and my winch to lift it. Fortunately, it didn't snow much last year. I got the pump, cylinders and hydraulic control block all rebuilt this year so it is ready to go.

I think you could easily just mount it in the bucket. There are tractor guys that have done this.

I think I've seen a setup with angle in the past but they actually welded mounting steel into the bucket.

I think a skid-steer mount would be the way to go. The angle hydraulics are optional but would be cool.

However you mount it make sure you have good shoes on it. If you hit something plowing with the blade way out front it will tear your loader arms up. They are made for lift not hard side impacts.

Yes, set one up for a guy who had a "Mustang" skid steer (looks like the Bobcat) and it worked great with the tilt system in it. The Loader had the lift section covered, but the tilt was really neat and worked like a jewel.

Good price too.

I have a John Deere tractor with a loader. We welded ears in the bucket and simply mounted the plow with its own pins. Its a manual plow so it also gets hooked onto the hook on the top of the bucket. The plow is great in the bucket because you can push piles of snow very high or push piles far back so you have room for more snow storms. Just make sure the plow is not to heavy for the bucket. Will try to get some photos tomorrow if interested.

The mounting ears sound like the ticket !! Does the bucket hang up with wet dirt with the ear welded in the bucket ??

Does your bucket have quick disconnects? IF so just build them on the plow and interchange them. But adding them to the bucket will work, just extendes the plow out a lot farther.

I don't have the Quick connect setup . I need to do a long road to the ranch so extending out won't be a problem

Extending the blade out farther is harder on the loader arms. All the weight is way out front (remember you are pushing snow which weighs a lot) which makes it easier to bend the loader arms.

I think you need to upgrade to a cabbed Kioti with Skidsteer(Bobcat) Quick Attach. ;)

Here are some photos of the simple mounts in the bucket. Does work great, on and off in a minute. Also made up brush forks to fit in the same mounts. You do need to be careful. The plow arms have to go out enough to angle the plow. Definately fishplate the bottom of the bucket under the mounts as it is alot of stress in one spot. I would not use it commercially, but for your access will not be bad. If you hit stuff real hard you can bend a cylinder or bend the loader!! Gotta be careful, but works great and is simple. Have been loading dirt and they really don't get in the way. Only if you are loading flat objects into the bucket do they get in the way. Good luck.
