Snot trac prices going through the roof

Snowtrac Nome

member formerly known as dds
looks like snow trac prices are going to be high this year or the sellers just aren't going to sell. look at the price of this one and it needs a lot of help.
http://kenai.craigslist.org/sno/4060915704.html I have to admit the little capstan winch on the front is kind of cool if you look the seller said he would fix the tires and put an engine in for 18 k. I'm thinking there may have been a little burning herb inhaled.

will the engine be gold plated at that price? or even solid gold? geesh, whatever herbs the guyis smoking, i want some too. must be good stuff lol

the guy who sent me the link also sent a few more links to some cut down and modified snow masters and both looked to be pretty much ready to run both were asking better than 10 grand. heck for that kind of money it makes me tempted to sell mine. I have an attachment to little red we have been all over the seward peninsula together.

a good ready to run snow master should sell for around 7 to 9 k with the buying power of our currency. I've seen some really nice pimped out models over the 10 k mark , on those you are getting what you paid for. if you have cut tracks or a project quality model you need to expect 4 to 6 k on the high side I like to see 2 to 3 and that snow trac with no motor and unknown transmission $2500.00 would be the max. that is how I see it, you have to remember I'm used to shipping every thing in here. case in point I just picked up a Thiokol 2100 paid 3 grand for it . have to drop another 2 into guides im up to 5 and haven't counted labor to change 140 guides or fasteners. plus another 6500 for shipping once fixed I would need over 10 just to break even with out my labor which is worth about $130.00 per hour it all adds up, also ready to run to me means I jump in and drive a hundred miles, not out to the back 40.

Off another thread. $3500 new in 64'. What would that be today, 50k???

A ready, worthy, cat for 10k seems dirt cheap.

I think a nice "ready, worthy" Snow trac for 10K is not too much. In Alaska you have more of them, and less people, so they are cheaper....

looking at this mornings craiglist adds looks like prices are starting high this year 2 imps over the 8 k mark one looks worth the asking price with a fresh rebuild, I think the other is a little steep some of the other cats looked like they might be worth what the asking price was ,yet prices were high. there is 2 snow tracs with out tracks for sale as a pair in anch at 6 k I'm thinking one may be a parts rig, but that sounds like a fair price if they have the grousers if they don't have grousers and guides than the price had better drop cause it's going to get expensive quick.

we have one here in town some one stuck a 90'vintage f 250 engine and cab on. I here from some one who rented it it was a pos. properly restored it could be quite a rig for what you get if that thing isn't bad shape it's not a bad price

That one has showed up on here before:

And it is not a 1967 like the ad says. More like a late 50's serial number if I remeber correctly. It was in real rough shape when I looked at it 2 or 3 years ago...
