Imagine going to sleep and trying to wake up but you can't...You can hear what is going on around you and you try to move your arms, feet, legs or even lift your head. You can hear yourself breath or even sometimes snore. You tell yourself to wake up...but nothing happens...
It sucks, its scary and I hate it....And it just happened during a nap
"An episode of paralysis may cause you to be unable to speak. It can also make you unable to move your arms and legs, body, and head. You are still able to breathe normally. You are also fully aware of what is happening. An episode can last for seconds or minutes. The episode usually ends on its own. It may also end when someone touches you or speaks to you. Making an intense effort to move can also end an episode. Sleep paralysis may occur only once in your life. It may also happen many times in a year".
"Sleep paralysis can affect men and women of any age group. The average age when it first occurs is 14 to 17 years. It is a fairly common sleep problem. Estimates of how many people have it vary widely from 5% to 40%. You may be more likely to have it if a relative also has it.
A lack of sleep can make you more likely to have sleep paralysis. It is also more likely if you have a sleep schedule that often changes. Mental stress may also be a factor. It seems to occur more often when you sleep on your back."
I had a Multiple Sleep Latency Test about 3 months ago which came back for a sleep disorder. I only reached REM sleep which is your best sleep 2% of the time I was asleep. They had originally wanted to test for Narcolepsy but the sleep study reported Hypopnea which is a form of sleep apnea. So they never tested for Narcolepsy because my Hypopnea needed to be treated ( Still isnt). I also have RLS which I am being treated for. I also get night terrors which feel VERY real along with Somniloquy and Somnambulism. Needless to say my sleep SUCKS...And now this sleep paralysis crap...
I just won't sleep at all anymore...I need to find a graveyard job..
