Senators Rand Paul & JD Vance are filibustering the Ukraine Aid Bill

There is a foreign aid bill that is being filibustered in the US Senate right now.

The primary action of the bill is supposed to give financial aid to Ukraine for their war effort with Russia. There is also aid to Israel and Taiwan tied into the bill. Total cost is $95 BILLION.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Ohio Senator JD Vance are leading a filibuster on the Senate floor now joined by Senator Mike Lee and a few others. Regardless of if you support Ukraine or not, there is, at least in my opinion, a suicide clause in the bill that must be defeated.

Buried in the bill is an impeachment clause that binds the next President to continue the foreign aid. So basically if the bill passes, and if Trump win, he is bound by the law even if it is a disaster, if he doesn't he gets himself impeached. NO bill should ever be enacted into law that does that to any future President.

Apparently they could not filibuster long enough.

Eventually the bill passed the senate.

"I predict that the House of Representatives is not going to take up this bill," Paul said.​

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., slammed the $95.3 billion foreign aid package, which he says is unlikely to even pass the House after the Senate passed it Tuesday following an all-night session.​

"I for one think that the American people are opposed to this bill. I think they're opposed to the concept of Ukraine first and America last," Rand Paul said on the Senate floor Monday evening hours before the bill passed 70-29.​

All of the "Nay" votes came from Republicans with the exception of Democrats Sens. Peter Welch of Vermont and Jeff Merkley of Oregon.​
