Yea I used evaporust too and it worked great but lost its effectiveness on about the third reuse. And at $22 a gallon it's not cheap. A 5 gal bucket of molasys cost me $46 in Alaska and made about 50 gal of solution. And I'm not sure if it working yet. Another week or two in the solution and I'll know

i used ospho on our 966 before painting it it has apeared to work well on teh surface rust that showed up and deaper rust that the blasting agent didn't get into

What is ospho?
I don't know the technical breakdown on Ospho but it's a neat liquid that when applied to rust will create a rust-free surface that (after a slight bit of cleaning) is ready to be painted.

As it turned out for me that the molasys solution did remove most of the rust after a 3 week soak but after I power washed rinsed then dried the pieces they flash rusted in minutes. So I ended up wire wheeling them anyway and used a "Zero Rust" product in the places I couldn't wire wheel. For the time and effort, I would call this method a bust. But at this point in my J5 restoration I'm almost have the painting done and I have learned to Hate painting

had the same problem with the water sand blasting method just followed up with a coat of ospho than prime and paint the loader looks like new now
