Right to advertise Santa for Beer?

Thought this was interesting reading material pertaining to a lawsuit in Maine. Long story short, state of Maine liquor enfocement does not want the beer people using Santa Claus for an ad for thier beer.

Reminds me of the lawsuit with Joe Camel and the smokes (pertaining to targeting younger consumers).

Personally, think the ad is in bad taste and it would apeal to the "younger crowd".

But perhaps bad publicity is better than no publicity.

I don't know what the makers of the beer were thinking. The name "Santa's Butt Beer" does not sound good no matter. Maine said no to it because they put an image of Santa on the label showing Santa's Butt (it was covered at least, no Santa butt crack showing).
I'll shop for off the wall beers, and have to admit to buying 'Arrogant Bastard Ale' just for the name. I didn't care for the beer at all, but they got me to buy it once because of the name. 'Santa's Butt Beer' I would not even buy once.

I keep a few bottles of Grand Teton Brewing Co's "Bitch Creek Ale" around for that special occasion a female cannot shut up and let go......:yum: When I bring it out it usually will put a smile back on their face...time to drop the subject......:pat: Sometimes it just puts me up chit creek without a paddle......:hide:

Santa's Butt Beer just isn't right.......
