Reuben Bake

Reuben Bake (Recipe submitted by, Ridley's Wreckage)

My husband actually prepared this recipe, but when he did, he cut the recipe in half and used an 8x8-inch non-stick pan. While my husband liked the caraway seeds, I do not, so he just sprinkled on a few of the caraway seeds.

Reuben Bake

2 (8-oz.) tubes refrigerated crescent rolls (My husband used Kroger's Flaky Cresent Dinner Rolls Butter Flavored)

1 pound of sliced Swiss cheese (If you don't care for Swiss, you could substitute provolone).

1-1/2 pounds of sliced deli corned beef

14-ounces of Sauerkraut, "well-drained" (You can use up to 28 ounces if you would like; it just depends on how much love you have for sauerkraut!).

1/2 cup to 1 cup Thousand Island Dressing

1 large egg white, lightly beaten

1 Tablespoon caraway seeds, optional (Since I'm not quite fond of caraway seeds, my husband only added a pinches.)

-

1.) Set your oven to 375°F.

2.) Using a 9x13-inch pan, lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.

3.) Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough and place it in your lightly greased baking dish.

4.) Using your fingers; seal or pinch together the perforations.

5.) Place in preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

6.) Once your base dough has been cooked, remove it from the oven.

7.) Add 1/2 of your cheese to the bottom layer of crescent rolls.

8.) Next, toss on all your delicious corned beef, make sure to evenly space it out.

9.) Now you can either mix your "well-drained sauerkraut" and Thousand Island Dressing together and spread over the top, or omit the Thousand Island Dressing and just add the sauerkraut. (Utilize the Thousand Island dressing as a side for dipping.)

10.) Add your remaining Swiss over the sauerkraut.

11.) Unroll your second tube of crescent rolls, and gently add them on top of the last cheese layer. Using your hands, seal or pinch together the perforations.

12.) Brush the top with your lightly beaten egg white, and if using, toss on your caraway seeds.

13.) Bake for 13 to16 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.

14) Let it stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

When preparing this recipe, my husband happened to use Kroger's Flaky Cresent Dinner Rolls Buttered Flavored.

He also used, Kroger's Thousand Island Dressing (No Artificial Flavors).

As well as, German Style Sauerkraut.
