return it over a year later, wtf

luvs

'lil yinzer~
now, i got a coat Christmas of 2010. i wore it for the first time one day & my doctor put me inpatient that day, immediately following my appt. w/ her.
the hospital lost the coat.. plain & simple. a nurse told me she saw a roomie leave in it (i showed her the belt to it) after she threw a fit of absolute hysterics as they'd lost her coat.
i got a refund after some battles w/ administration. the coat was only $78 as i'd gotten it on black friday that year, except i happily spent the $$.
well, i get in the other day & there's a scentsy package that i gladly opened. then there was this odd other package awaiting me.
the box was a staples box, unsealed, no tape, completely unsecured. i open it & lo & behold, there's my coat. i put it uner scrutiny. there was a piece of dog fur on it. i have no dog. other than that, it looked brand new, was brand new-smelling. how they retrieved it is beyond me. i promptly called & told them i was in no way returning the refund money. i'd spent it months ago.
no note, no explanation, no nothing.some people.....
at least the coat is in style yet so i can wear it on cold days.

If they ask for the money back tell them only if they can get the store you bought the replacement at to return and credit without a slip a year later.

should check 'em:biggrin:. i always find cash in my own.

i figure it's not on surveylence w/ HIPPA.

i'm glad to have it now. too sad it can't be washed. (it's wool.)

ha-ha! ingenious, thcri. they just said, 'that's okay' when i said i wasn't returning the refund money. they knew they were wrong.

it irked me most when i said, 'so you expect me to leave here sans so much as a hoodie in this weather!' & the floor administrator just shrugged & said, 'suppose so', turned, & & flitted away. someone else suggested i have someone bring me another. i said, 'if they fit'. (i have half of one of my closets stuffed full of coats that i knew full-well would fit. i wear them all the time. i kept the one so near me they'd have needed to pry it from me w/ a crowbar. he-he.

yeah. & they can pay for it. they lost it, God only knows where it was,- it's thier responsibility imo. they made me so aggrivated. im'ma show them a 'lil aggrivation now. if they weren't so damned rude 'bout it i'd be over it.......

Shit happens in healthcare facilities.
Hospitals, nursing homes.. whatever..

Too bad hospitals don't take personal belongings into account and do a detailed inventory of every single item you walk in with on your person.
My guys and gals have to do that on admission, the same day.
That way, there isn't a question about what happened to X item.
It's documented on the date.

If it anything comes up missing on release or before then, it's taken care of.
No questions asked.

I cannot even begin to add up how many times a new patient has come to us with missing dentures, hearing aids and glasses from a hospital.
Where do they go?
It's frustrating for us all.
Getting hospital report sheets saying Mary or John have these items- then call backs saying those things aren't with them on arrival have the family screaming, and us pulling our hair out trying to find out what the hell happened to them.
All I know is my patients have to eat, hear and see.
Those are very expensive things to lose.

yeah, dentures & hearing aid co-pays used to cost my Grandparents a chunk of change. glasses aren't so expensive, although for many of people, i'm sure they scrimp thier pennies together for them. my friend's paying $6000 for dental implants now. insurance won't cover them.

they should inventory. it's good that your facility inventories.

not many people bring that much to particularly the hospital: for me, toiletries, a lipstick so i'm not so grey, pajamas, socks, keys, maybe my phone, a pair of jeans/a shirt/boots & that to leave in, & maybe some reading material. it would take 5 minutes to write that, sign & date it.
