Retirement plan

If you had bought $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
If you had invested $1,000.00.with Enron, you would have $16.50 left.
If you had invested $1,000.00.with Worldcom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser (the beer, not the stock) one year ago, drunk all the beer, then turned in the cans for the deposit... you would have $214.00.

Based on the above data, the current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

This is a new retirement program. It's called the 401Keg.

If I ever sober up and review my 401Keg, I may be a billionaire :)

You have confirmed, I am on the right path to :1062: wealth. I just keep my 401Keg at home in the refrigerator. I think I will go take another early withdrawl :1062: and do a deposit in the recycle bin. :1062:

Where do you get $214 for recycling $1,000 worth of beer contained in aluminum cans? I find that a little suspect..... I know it's a joke!

It is a bit high but, recycling aluminum still gives a better rate than some of the other companies listed.

$1000 worth of beer.
At $18 per 30 pack, that gives you 1667 cans of beer.
There's 24 cans in 1 pound so 1667/24 gives you 70 pounds.
70 pounds at 60 cents/pound gives $42. Leave a little dribble in each can and you could probably increase the weight by 50% giving $63.

It still beats Enron and WorldCom

Using your numbers...1667 cans with 10 cent deposit each = $166.70
Better than a kick in the head!
We don't get returns here...

Actually, many mfgrs send our cans without the refund info on it. Too many people were taking them across state lines to get a refund.

I got to start drinking...........oh wait, I sold my stock BEFORE the lastest downturn.........I win!

Like your thinking though

In Kansas we don't get refunds and we don't get that high of a price per pound for aluminum.

Agreed on the rate of return on the other investments!
