Removing unwanted birds?

K. Serious question. I went to the church tonight to play the service. Looks like we have a pigeon problem at the church. We have old stain glassed glassed windows throughout and up near the alter there are smaller ones that open. They don't have screens on them. Anyways, to make a long story short two pigeons flew into the church last sunday and have been flying around dropping their crap everywhere. Any ideas on how to get them to fly out?(we've left the doors open during the day in the hopes they would fly out)

We also thought about using a pellet gun but don't want to risk damaging the stained glass or the 110 year old wood beams and ceiling.

Qwl decoys do work well. But once inside these birds are, shall we say, happy if they can get food and water.

One approach is light. If possible to darken the room and leave open a high widow with light, they will be attracted to it. Be careful not to be too dark or they won't fly at all.

I know this works in my factory and warehouse buildings,,, most of the time.

Secondary method: most birds do not like to fly in darkness. they will stubbornly roost if they cannot see to safely fly. So, after a few days of exhaustion many can be captured with a big fish net by simply turning down the light in the room. They will be eager to roost and not eager to move.

I have often caught birds barehanded this way. However, I suggest never doing this manual method with a Turkey. Once, when I was a small boy, I was double dog dared to pluck a turkey out of their roosting tree at nite. Let me just say,,,, "Them suckers are MEAN.":whistling:

I suddenly have a vivid mental picture of little Franc trying to hold on to a mad turkey bigger than he is! :yum: :yum: :yum:
