Was out early this morning with the little Maltese Snowball out playing in the yard while we were doing some planting, mulching, etc.
Snowball, all 7# of feisty fangs and claws, was out rolling around on his back in yard away from us, in a clearing area with no trees. I look up and there is a red tail hawk, not 30 feet up in the air doing a circle over the little doggy.
Called the dog, spoiled the hawks breakfast, story ended happily for Snowball.
I've seen Red Tails come in for kills and grab their prey, seen them fly off with squirrels, rabbits, etc. The birds are very common around our property. Never watched one circle my wife's little dog before.
