Questions Questions....

1. See the photo. What is to prevent the track tension from loosening while driving? Is there supposed to be a jam nut or a pin in the female / male connection at the end (which do not line up due to prior damage) of the jack screw. The welds were broken on the mount when I got this thing.
2. I had fuel issues where the cat would run out of fuel. I replaced the fuel pump / filter and added a sight filter up by the carb. There was a lot of aluminum dust in the old filter from their retrofit aluminum tank. I also installed a solinoid fuel shut off in an effort to prevent theft. I would drive for about a half hour then it would die. No fuel visible in the sight filter. I would wait a bit and it would start and pump fuel again. My first thought was vapor lock but when I saw there was no fuel in the sight filter, actually watched it as it diminished fuel, I discounted that. After much thought, I took the solenoid shut off out. Took the cat out and had no problems. Anyone have issues with using a solenoid shut off?
3. 1202B, how steep of a hill will this machine climb? I have been cautions about going down for fear of not being able to get back up. It has the powder tracks(?). This day the snow was about 8" to over a foot deep but I stayed on relatively flat surfaces.
Thanks for any and all insights,
ra
For reference, here is the solenoid I used. afc-111-12-volt-lockoff-multi-fuel-shut-off-valve

Yes, either a jam nut or a pin/bolt is usually present. To get a jam nut on is going to require untracking the machine which you might want to do anyway since your tracks are on backwards. Or figure out a pin or something. You have a torsion bar front axle which is nice and J-style grousers are the best for deep & steep. Variations in snowpack conditions make a lot of difference in climbing performance.
