Pulled my gun out at the Deere/Stihl/Echo dealership ~ nobody cared!

Picked up a new hedge trimmer today from the local Stihl dealership.

They took it right off the display, filled it with gas/oil, test started it for me, showed me how to use it, etc then offered to double the warranty if I bought their Stihl oil mixture. So we go back inside and the guy rings up the oil, 6 pack for $16.04.

Reach in my pocket because I know I have some loose change, but its in the same pocket as my Ruger LCP. Pull the gun, set it on the counter, with keys, etc. I have 2 dimes. Guy looks over, doesn't even bat and eye, says not to worry about the 4 cents, keeps talking like its no big deal. Because it is no big deal.

Wonder what would have happened if I had done that at the Big Box stores up in the suburbs :whistling:

I bought one of those new Uncle Mike's "Reflex" retention holsters and I really like it. Do you use a retention holster? I've been hesitant because I don't want to mar the pistol but, hey, it's a tool and it's useless if I don't have it. I also worry about someone possibly grabbing my sidearm from behind if I'm in a crowd, so I wanted some sort of retention rig. The 'hidden' way of releasing the pistol in the "Reflex" holster seemed to fit the bill for me.

I have 1 retention holster and only really use it when I open carry.

When I conceal carry then I do not use a retention holster. Today I had a small Ruger LCP in a pocket holster in my front pocket.

I'm a big fan of the wallet holster and use this for my little Colt Mustang.
Love it (the wallet holster, too).

Here it is for the LCP:

Our Pocket Holsters have a hinged pocket guard
(anti-print panel) to allow quick access to your
firearm and to facilitate a smooth extraction
from your pocket.

Interesting holster.

I had my LCP in a DeSantis pocket holster, when I set it on the counter I left the gun inside the holster. I find it easy to pull the gun out of the holster while its in the pocket and the pocket holster does a good job of breaking up the outline of the gun while its in the pocket.

But that holster you pictured sure looks interesting. Does it have a rough texture on the backside so it stays in the pocket while you draw?

Yes, indeed, Melensdad.

I've experimented with just about every holster on the market for a mousegun and found this particular back pocket wallet-holster the way to go. Keeping a little pistol in the front pocket is uncomfortable and is subject to the 'circumstance' mentioned in the OP.

So my front pockets are reserved for car keys, spare change and a small pocket knife. But my butt-side packs a wallet on the left and the venerable Colt Mustang on the right, both of which are easy as pie to extract when necessary. No print. Snag-free. Stays in the pocket. Looks just like a wallet. Same size and shape.

You can present a weapon from this wallet holster almost as quickly and smoothly as if from traditional hip leather. Quality stuff. Again, love it.

If any thug ever 'asks' for my wallet, I'll be happy to oblige.

Typically, when I carry a mousegun, its in the front pocket. Typically I also have my coins in my front left pocket. But I had just left the Post Office so I had taken the gun out, locked it in the car, and they gave me change, which, being right handed, ended up in my right pocket. I then reinserted the gun when I got back to the car, on top of the change.

I'm yet to find that 'perfect' pocket holster for my small .380 and Kahr PM40 pistol (basically the same size as the .380's but clearly has more punch). Since drawing from the small of my back and even rear pocket will no longer be possible for me, my right front pocket or belt level holsters are all I can consider. I have a great looking leather Galco PRO460 pocket holster, but it often comes out of my pocket with the pistol or the pistol is difficult to remove from the holster. Perhaps it simply needs more breaking in?

Sounds like you may be into a fanny-pack. Or maybe one of the belt holsters that looks like an iPhone scabbard.
