My sons were raised in the south and our family took on the southern concept for respect. Mr. Doc, Mr. Junk and Ms. BS is common when they address people. Thank you's and opening doors for others are a standard with my boys (men). So when we moved back to our home state of PA it was quite a wake up call for the boys AND for the people they met in their new enviroment. They won over every elder they met and became quite popular. Frankly, Mrs. BD and I routinely got compliments to our sons manners and good nature.
Jarod, my oldest son was a good "B" student in High School. He of course was "ma's" boy and relished helping her more than getting dirty with "pa". He went to school at IUP and got a major in business and minor in economics. He has worked from the time he was 16. I funded all his schooling and upkeep, I just ask him and he blessed me by funding his play/fun money. He was on the deans list his last 2 semesters. I guess he was a late bloomer but non the less we're very proud. He now works for Wells Fargo in Columbus, OH and is engaged to be married in October, he's a model son.....
Now my youngest appears to be taking it a step further. Colt turned 17 today and got the news he's been selected to the National Honor Society. He already works 30 hours a week and as soon as "pa" makes a move to chores he's right behind me. He's much more aggressive to help with outside chores. He's very active in school function and a wonderful writer. He's undecided on "Business", "Computers" or "Journalism" but I don't think it will matter, he's gonna succeed. His is somewhat of a gearhead and his truck is his passion, but he's swaying now towards a coupe. How can "ma" and "pa" say NO?
I know I'm rabbling but my sons keep amazing me and ya'll get to enjoy my release. With what I see of kids today, I feel so blessed, proud and lucky to have two GREAT sons!
From a proud Father,
Greg
