Iran Elected to U.N. Commission

Iran, which is threatening the United States if it tries to block Iran's nuclear ambitions, has now been elected to — of all things — the leadership of United Nations' Disarmament Commission, which oversees international disarmament and security. At its annual meeting in New York, the Commission on Disarmerment — part of the U.N.'s General Assembly — voted to make Iran a vice-chair of the commission, along with Uruguay and Chile.

This comes as Iranian officials boast that they have successfully enriched uranium, and insist the U.S. won't try to stop them since "the consequences would be too dangerous."

Yep, I agree there's some very major problems with the UN.

This is as bad as their Human Rights commission. I can't recall the country right now but whatever country is noted as having the worse human rights has been voted into a position there.

I think they should take the couple billion $ they're saying that are needed to fix up the UN Headquarters and spend the money building a new HQ in some other country.

Yeps sounds good to me. I don't think the Unites States needs to be part of the UN anymore. Ship it out, pull all troops back to the US and just start building our own arsenal. Peace through Strength. Keep em all thinking, develop weapons of mass destruction deployed by the space shuttle. Anyone sends anything our way we send ten back their way.:eek: Just kiddin, but it would be nice. :whistle:

I believe it was Libya that got voted in as part of the Human Rights Commision. I have to admit I agree with the other posters that it is time for the US to get out of the UN. I am a little bit tired of the whole one-world, Globalist, pie in the sky, everything is going to be great when we are all together BS that certain segments of politicians seem to be so enamored of.

After the emininent domain battles started because of the Supreme Court's rulings there was a town in New Hampshire where some locals tried to take Justice David Souter's house to make it into a museaum. If there are some brave New Yorkers maybe they could get rid of the UN by starting eminint domain proceedings against the UN and claim that it is prime water front real estate. I am sure there is some provision somewhere however that makes this impossible - because the land the UN sits on is sovereign territory or some such thing.
