Potatos growing in the cupboard

tsaw

Everyone knows I'm crazy.. nuts - and usually only post funny stuff. But I can't help but share this serious episode in my life.
This happened last week. My 17 yr. old daughter found a few spuds long forgotten in the cupboard. (don't ask why) But she found them growing.
They had white tentacles spouting from them... and they were all shriveled up. She was freaking out on me. She thought that some crazy disease was growing on them. I had to explain to her that the thing was like a seed, and trying to grow - and that they were alive.

Is that true? A potato is alive?

When you /boil/bake/fry/ you are killing it?

Yes, you murderer! Don't forget the other inanimate objects like the turkey and the gravy!

To me, the life of a potato is a very serious business, I plan on burying five or six thousand pounds of them in the next month. May they rest in peace.

Now wait a minute! You are all wrong.:hammer:
This was posted here for a reason. It's a serious question/discussion.

Now lets go over what I was saying:
A potato - left on its own in your kitchen cupboard will try and grow.
I told you that the damn thing left in the dark started to grow. There was Zero light. And it used all it's energy to spring some white "roots" - and shrived all up.

One reply is:

"Yes, you murderer! Don't forget the other inanimate objects like the turkey and the gravy!"

If you left "inanimate" objects like turkey and gravy in your
cupboard, they would ROT! Not try and grow.

And: :"Why is this in Seriously Speaking? "

Because name what food you can store - that is still "alive" and tries to "Survive" before you eat it.

Here's my contribution. I thought it was awhile since the wife made potatoes. There's actually mold starting on one, so I just pitched them all. Sorry, we don't grow taters here. The soil is too dense.
