Post some pictures of your lift......

I know that some of us here have car lifts. How about posting some detailed pictures of your lift and tell us about it. Brand name, capacity, cost, etc. I would start off showing mine, but I still don't have one. That is another aggravating story....

I assume you don't want to see my car jack (although it is a car lift).

Bump!

I might be looking to get one myself. I can't find the other threads where Junk, Dargo and others listed the details of theirs. Anyone know where they are?

My lift? It's in my barn holding my '62 about 6' off the ground. :thumb:
Gee, thanks Brent. :tiphat:

Now, do you recall where you put your thread saying how dang great that thing was? (or at least give me a couple search terms like the manufacturer name)?

I have a lift but my only photos of it really are of the object on it. So only parts of the lift are visible.

I'm working on a new "invention" for my lift. When I get into inventin' sometimes scary things happen. :o As mentioned in my earlier thread, it's a PIA to put my '62 up on the lift. I have to pull 4/5 of the way into the lift, swing the arms under the car, attach the part I fabricated to the front two arms, push the car ahead until it hits the rubber stops I glued onto the floor, get on the creeper again and carefully position each lift arm under the car, and then, finally, lift the car. It's not that big of a deal, but I find myself hesitant to take my '62 down to use the lift to work on other cars. Twice now I decided it would be easier to just leave the '62 on the lift and use my floor jack and jack stands to change oil in other vehicles. :o

So, here's my idea; I'm going to build drive on ramps that connect to the lift arms. I'll make the drive on ramps long enough to accomodate even my long truck and make them easy to attach and detach. The only time I'd need to take them off is when I'm doing tire rotation or a brake job or something else like that. There is a company that makes something close to what I want, but their drive on adapters hinge and drop down where the tires are and pick the vehicle up by the rocker panels. That would positively be a no-no for me. I just need to figure out how to make the ramps to where I can move them myself without having to use my fork truck to lift them on and off the lift arms. If I used the materials I first had in mind, each drive on ramp would weigh about 400 pounds.

Mine is a DirectLift brand 4 post lift.

BTW, the shop is a mess. :hide:

You can see some pans for drips, I have a couple plastic pans that are light duty and simply are drip, rag and junk collectors. There are also a couple structural steel pans that can take full weight of a vehicle that span between the two sides.

Bob......... it looks like you need another garage that is twice the size of the present one. Looks awful crowded in there..... That is my problem, I have more junk than I have floor space. My lift arrived a week ago, but I still haven't moved enough "stuff" to get it into the garage.

A mess? You should see my son's room! Why can't you just admit that your shop is clean because you are a neat freak? Seriously, great pics Bob.:thumb:
Bonehead

Nope, its not bolted. It does not need to be. In fact it has wheels (not shown in the photos) that attach just before you lowered it completely down and with them attached you can roll the whole lift, with a car on it, to another location.

I don't have a lift, just a pit (probably full of water), if you want a picture of it I can oblige. I also have a 10 ton trolley jack, amongst others, but I am sure you don't want pictures of those. A lift would occupy too much space in the workshop and the Foden only just goes in now!
