What do you pay for prescriptions?? I have decent health insurance and I am still forced to pay $400 a month for meds not to mention what the Health ins has to pay for their part this is rediculous..... What sorces are on the web that are reliable to get them from. Do you actually save money? Is it worth it?? And we think gas is expensive???

I'd probably pay well over what you pay if not for my insurance coverage. One thing you may want to check is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart sells a lot, and I was surprised how many it was, of common prescriptions for $4 per refill. That is lower than most insurance co-pays when there is drug coverage. I know I pay $10 co-pay for Folic Acid, but could buy it outright for about $7, and I am pretty sure Wal-Mart has it for $4.

I've recently found that different places charge different amounts, mainly on non-covered prescriptions.
Costco and a store called "The Medicine Shoppe" have much better prices over the traditional pharmacies. My recent purchases have been about 25-30% cheaper.

As for ordering via the web, many of those places are out of the USA. There's a big hoopla about ordering over the border but don't exactly recall what the details are.

From my experience (we have HSA, so pay cash for the first $4000) Walgreen's has proven to be the worst as far as pricing goes.

They gouge very badly on prescriptions. I have seen 10 to 30% price difference compared to Aurora or China-Mart. :pirate:

There has been proof that many of the foreign sources provide "counterfeit" drugs. Those being drugs that have either no, or lower, efficacy than they are supposed to have. No big surprise, but there have been seizures of pills from China that were nothing much more than colored/shaped sugar/cellulose pills. We also received a warning about diabetic test kits/strips and supplies that were counterfeited and didn't work properly, those were also traced back to China.

I pay $12 per month for both my Atenolol (to manage my MVP symptoms) and Allopurinol (for gout-which I was recently diagnosed with in my ankle grrrrrrrrr)
We need health care reform all the way around in these United States, people!!
When I lived in England, it was so nice to be under the NHS and not worry about hospital bills, office visits or prescriptions.
Sure, the wait may have been a bit longer for office and hospital visits.
I think around 20 quid was taken from my paycheck every two weeks toward the national health service.
We need that badly in this country.

Generics are free on my wife's plan at work and we pay full cost on brand name drugs. It's really a great plan and works well for us.
