Past & present steel track Tucker operators

A question I asked on Thursday that got deleted with the system reload was inquiring about the best lube to use when putting my steel track back together. Dirt won't be a factor (other than windblown sand & dust). I am looking for a lube that will last a long time because this is damn sure the last time it will be fully apart like this (at least by me). But I need something that will remain slick, and thus QUIET by cutting out most of the bulldozer type squeaking coming from the tracks.

So, if you posted up recommendations before, could you please do so again? I think dds mentioned Hamilton Equipment(???), but I only go to glance at the post one time before it was gone.

Thanks, David

I think the best you could do is the light blue water resistant wheel bearing grease. That's what Tucker uses on all their track stuff these days.

If your serious about using a good grease and have semi deep pockets, this is the best grease I have ever seen for low ambient and extreme use.

Can't remember how small the containers of it are though.

You nailed it on the quantity. The NLGI 0 (artic) only comes in a 3500 lb. tote, a 2000 lb. tote or a 400 lb. drum. Maybe I'll dip the whole machine in it!

The NLGI 1 (-31 - 104F) is available in a cartridge though. CAT part number 161-9203.

But you need to look at the "BIG" picture. Think of what you could save on undercoating if you dipped the whole cat!

I actually hated working with that grease when I was wrenching. it's like antisieze, can't get it off.

The 161-9203 is $5.38 a tube.
