Overheating Battery

This reminded me in a way of my Maglight problems (see rants) but not as bad. McAffee ran a super long scan on my Lenovo today and found no problems. I did notice that the laptop was just a bit warm when this was done but just thought that it had run awhile, no big deal.
I turned it off unplugged it, put it in it's case and took about a two hour nap.
When I got up to get it out I noticed that it was pretty warm.
I took out the battery and let it cool off. Tried it without battery plugged in (it should work that way.) tried a few other things; finally put in old half dead battery and old electrician taped charger and it works.
Weird only thing I can think is I've been having problems with the new charger.
I ordered two new better grade batteries and a new charger (now I wish I had ordered two chargers.) Right now I'm on my slow running ACER laptop. I was planning to try Windows 10 on the ACER but won't until I get the Lenovo set and running well.
It's good to have back ups. If need be I have an ancient desktop that only runs a light weight Ubuntu called Lubuntu.
