Outsiders suck !

BigAl

Gone But Not Forgotten
I have had the laundrymat open for 10 monts now . Never had anything stolen except for some damn kids stealing candy , for which they are now doing commutity service for awhile . The locals have been great and very supportive .

Anyway the out of the area hunters moved in and stuff started missing . Towels, laundry hamper , and bath mats !!!!WTF
I charge a whoopin $1.75 for a shower and that included the towel and wash cloth along with a clean bath mat . Now the fuckers are stealing them .
It really frys my ass that some fucking "in bred SOB" will ruin it for everybody else . Showers just went to $4 thanks to those POS .Its not the price of the towel as it is the idea of stealing that makes me want to kick their sorry ass down the road .
I can sure see why some folks hate outsiders .

Big Al, it has been my experience very few people really steal stuff. Are you charging everyone $4? Why would you make everyone pay for the sins of a few? I personally would ban the bastards I knew was stealing instead of raising the prices for every one.

Al the truck-stop I do some maintenance work at used to hold a deposit for the towels until they were returned. The franchise put a end to it, and now the towels tend to disappear pretty darn quick. It does appear people will steal practically anything this day and age.

PS Showers are now $12 at the truck-stop without a fuel credit the price is also set by the corporate franchise.

Yea I know , but I do not have someone there all the time to stop this . A $1.75 is cheap and i was just trying to help the hunters out . If I knew who took them , I would kick their ass , but since i don't ,I have to raise the price on everybody to make up for theft . It sucks . Maybe once a year i'll give the locals a "Free Day" at the place to make up for this .

yea, 4 bucks appears to be cheap too. But people stealing stuff pisses me off, I would try to get to the goof balls that did it. I am sure you will do the right thing, just throwing my 2 cents out there.

Up here $4 is a lot to the locals . We are mostly a commutity of retired SSI folks . I bet the average income for a year is not over 10-$15,000 .

But we have a good long huntin season and everybody shares the rewards of their hunts . Firewood is cheap or free and we make sure to keep and eye on each other and take care of each other . We also respect privacy . Most folks have 10 junk cars parked out back for parts as needed and if you don't have the right part your neighbor probably will .
It not a life for most folks but it sure works well for us .

Al, all it takes is one a$$hole to f--k it up for all the honest folks. The a$$hole probably figures you owe him something for charging $1.75 for a shower!! I won't elaborate on which political party I figure he belongs to,LOL!!
Mike

How about just not furnishing towels, wash cloths and mats during hunting season. If explained why to the locals I'm sure they could furnish their own.
Mike

Yeah that sucks to have someone who thinks they need your stuff more than you do . Charge more to make up for the few that steal . If anyone complains tell them to hit the road .

Whenever I take a trip that would be considered "roughing it," I always take along a small bath towel, hand towel and a face cloth, as well as a travel soap dish. I have bathed in lakes, rivers and state park shower rooms, and have never had towel service available. I think that if you have a fee for the shower & towel, then a refundable $20 deposit for the towel(s), that would keep more of your towels in the bathhouse. If they want to relinquish their deposit for a $5 towel, then YOU are ahead of the game. Business is business, but if you choose to treat your dependable local customers differently, that would be understandable. After all, you said that you know everyone there already.

they're jerks, al- ur providing a service.
might wanna implement a refundable deposit rule- they get towels, etc., they give a deposit. they return the towel, u return the deposit. the towel disappears, thier deposit disappears- into ur wallet.

The question running through my mind is why do the locals need your showers? Don't they have indoor plumbing?

Why would you make everyone pay for the sins of a few?

Isn't that the liberal creed? Of all people to say that....:yum:

Al, I think the best idea is a refundable deposit. If they are local then they can have a "pre-approved and standing deposit on file", so to speak. If you don't know them, cash deposit is mandatory. Strangers don't have the cash on hand? Hold some sort of ID until all their stuff is returned and accounted for.

At least that saves the locals from taking the hit.

Personally, I'd chain the towels and mats to a truck rim.:brows:

Believe it your not . A lot of houses pipes freeze up around here and the folks carry in water for cooking and come down for a shower and do their laundry at my place . Very often we see -10 to -30 degrees here in the winter .
