I know this isn't well written but it was for my youngest baby. He didn't learn to speak till he was near 5 years old. That's coz he used signing from the get-go for me. I argued for 3 years he needed speak therapy coz one thing a deaf momma can't do is teach her baby to speak. He was scared when I finally got him speech therapy that we'd lose our special bond. I told him no matter what language or form of communication...he's always be special to me being my baby.
Anyways, this is trying to say that. Plus I shamefully kept forgetting when he started talking, lots of words he didn't know without the sign to go with. LOL space-brain momma huh?
sometimes you and I feel so happy in our world
we forget about the bigger wider world
but when I realize, that's when I take you by the hand
and do all I can to help you understand
even just teaching you the name of a flower
makes me smile coz I see you flower
just watching you discover this wide new world
seeing your beautiful little flag unfurl
but you have to know that the differences now
don't mean our bond is slipping no how
I still love you, your touch still means the same
we've just entered a new phase with a new game
it's so okay to use your voice
it's so beautiful to see you make some noise
and yes, you have the choice
but the world should hear your sweet little voice
yes, sometimes you and I are in a different world
we're two unconventional flags unfurled
but when I realize, that's when I take you by the hand
