Yesterday Duane and his wife were out at their remote homestead, which is about 100 miles out off the closest road. His wife was having chest pains and he was able to contact a gal on Facebook on the East Coast through his Hugesnet satellite system. She got the medflight headed out and brought them in yesterday afternoon.

Ambulance picked them up at the airport for the run to the Hospital. After tests, she had a heart attack.

Today they installed a stint in her and all is well. Went up tonight to Fairbanks to visit, Duane had headed to some Friends in town to get some sleep, so I got to chat with Rena for a bit. She's in good spirits and with good behavior, should make Parole by Christmas!

She will have to have some Other tests done, but all looks good so far!

100 miles from help! That must have been scary in itself. Glad she is going to be OK. Amazing how far this technology has come in the last 50 years.

Glad to here they got some help in time and she will be OK . :flowers:

I was wondering where Duayne had been, and how he was doing.

I figured he was busy running trap lines. Good to know that they have some way of communicating up there for situations like this.

Well it is amazing what can be done now. Twenty years ago, they would have had to ride/walk out or wait till a plane landed a few miles away on a lake.

With Satellite TV and Internet, it's like (almost) being in town.

Some years back, Rena broke her leg and she had a really bumpy 4wheelee ride to the lake, now there is a first class runway just above the house!
