There are places to stay at Huntington Lake, Lakeshore Resort (rustic) or places available via Airbnb. Same goes for Shaver Lake which is about 25 minutes down the hill from Huntington.

Any chance of staying at Mono?

I could ask... To my knowledge they have not been open in the winter for some time.

It would be approximately 20 miles from starting point to Mono.
