Well it was languishing in a scrap yard and begging to be rescued! It is a rather long term project, but someone has to do it - incidentally the flat tyres pumped up!!

Yes, it is an ex-military landrover ambulance. The fittings are nearly all there in the back, including a water tank, a sink and various other odds and ends. This is before I cleaned it out, so there is a lot of junk in the picture too. The lid of the box that part of a clutch is on, lifts to reveal a sink, above that is a tank for water (says not for drinking!)

"Only used once by George and Joy
The 2 books by Joy Adamson, Born Free & Living Free are laced with pictures of their Rovers. Seems like the vehicle of choice for Safaris.

Nice Ambulance! They make great campers!

"Cool Find"!

It will be restored to military spec., it won't be a camper unless I take it by itself to a rally, but that is in the future - the distant future!! Today I drove to collect a hardtop for Dixie (that is the military landrover that was on the back of my Scania) That has a cab hard top and we fitted (temporarily) a canvas, but it could not be fitted correctly as I do not have the fittings for the front as yet. That has already been to its first rally - and as it was likely to rain and I was sleeping in the back, I put polythene over the gap and draped a camo net over it! It was ok, I thought I would be sleeping in it by myself, but ended up with the two grandchildren as well!!
