On Being 52- One Woman's Perspective

pirate_girl

legendary ⚓
1. It's becoming increasingly more difficult to jump out of bed in the mornings. Much coffee helps.

2.It's hard to look in the mirror and find more and more little white hairs sprouting (yank them OUT) amongst a head of red hair.

3.I've always been proud of the figure I have, most of it has stayed in place, except for the mid-section. A little belly isn't cute on a woman, and I'll be damned if I know where it's coming from.

Must be the lack of hormones catching up, at last!

4. On the other hand, claw clips and head wraps with hair up and more makeup, make UP for what is lacking in the facial area as of late.

5. Guess I need to hit the crunches harder and get back to the Y for some earnest burn swim time.

Or simply say screw it, Lollie.. your time has come.

You worry too much.:flowers: Relax.gif

.. not to mention trying to get back into size 12 jeans hanging in the closet.
Gotta lie on my back and tug the zipper (the one I can't see) because of the mountain range blocking the view, so off to the mirror I go, and try the 14's.
Nope, too loose.
Which proves something weird is a' happening to my body.

Perhaps I'll settle for a mumu from now on, and sensible shoes. LOL

They changed the sizes since you bought the 12s.

If they did that to men's clothes, you'd hear about it !! :hammer:

Enjoy 52. :flowers:

Are you actively dating or hoping to do so in the near future? If a guy only cares about the envelope and not what's inside, take it from this guy that he's not worth your time, much less your attention. Gravity takes its toll on everyone, male & female, so what makes you think you're any different? Look around you and see who is the same as they were when you left high school or college? My guess would be very few or none. You're going through this anxiety needlessly, and I would say to lighten up on yourself. Nothing you can do, short of plastic surgery, is going to make a significant change in the envelope, so why not just embrace the wisdom of 52 years and be thankful that you've made it to this point in the shape you are. Many others would be eternally grateful to be able to go to work each day, see a sunrise through clear eyes, hear the bird sing in the morning with open ears, or get out of their wheelchair and go to the store on a good pair of legs...and they also are 52. Be thankful and embrace who you are where you are. God don't make no junk!

Gee PG, it sounds like you need a small parascope to see over'um.:flowers:

Small mechanical devices are welcome at the time we need them. Just be glad it's not a walker or a wheel chair. as those day will come later. Enjoy what you have today, as in the future, we'll all eventally have those days when we look back on our lives and realize the golden years we so looked forward to, aren't so golden.:whistling:

Enjoy it while it lasts......

Best regards, Kirk

JEV pretty much nailed it except for the comment on plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is no fix in so many cases. We boat with a beautiful lady. She is 55 and very very nice looking. She always wore her two piece bathing suit and it looked fantastic on her. But, she was not happy. Her stomach was not 'perfect' (flat and tight like it used to be). She went for a tummy tuck (that we all agreed she did not need) .... the surgery was successful but now she has a big ole scar. Guess who will no longer wear a two piece bathing suit? You guessed it. Since she has that god awful scar (which looks worse than her little bit of a tummy ever did) she refuses to wear a two piece. What a shame.

Plastic surgery has it's place I suppose, but it is no magic bullet that will make you look twenty again when you are really 50. Way to many cases it makes you look freaky, like bruce jenner and so many others who have tried to maintain the youthful look and now are afraid or embarrassed to go out in public at all.

It is harder to stay in shape as we get older and our metabolism slows down. Work at it as you can but be reasonable with yourself and have realistic goals. That 20 year old body is gone never to return, but a mature beautiful woman has taken her place. It's all good. :flowers:

LOL Pixie.
Thanks Doc.
Best response to this came in PM, from one who'd know best.. 'cause he's met me, and umm seen me... head to toe..:whistling:

:blush::tongue::in_love:

Most of us have not met you, but most would agree. Your size 12 jeans are irrelavent to your beauty.:flowers:

Lollie, you're a beautiful woman, and I stress woman, but none of us are 20-years old anymore and there's nothing we can do about that.

A couple of years ago when I was back in Scotland I attended a reunion of guys that I used to play soccer with. Apart from one guy who also lives in the States, I couldn't believe how old they had all become. Those that were still alive were old, tired out men, not just physically but also mentally. Some of them were literally just waiting their time to die. I was shocked and depressed by it all.

You, you're still a young at heart, mentally agile, vibrant young woman. Take what you've got and run with it. :flowers::flowers::flowers:

P.S. If you and Bobcat want to go head to toe, that's nobody's business but yours. However you want to do it. :yum::yum::yum:

Oh, she'll smack me for that one.!!!!!!!

ok by a guy a few years younger i wouldn't notics the age were i seeing you i feel you are such a sweetheart and not a dingbat like most women i have had to deal with.even the one i'm curently married to. although you can be one of the boys you can still be a lady

Nahh, I'd never smack you.
Head to toe.. oh my my... :brows::biggrin:
Best keep quiet..

WOW, thank you Don.
Hey, I can be a dingbat when I want to be.
Trust me.

Lot's of good stuff being said, yep... but fuck all that. I just thought you were a fox. :a1:
Sir, you speak so eloquently! LOL

I wish that I'd have the nerve to say that. Good on ya bro'.:clap:
From one old sexy broad to one sexy silver haired Scot, I curtsey before thee and thank ye for the kind words.

The 21st Century Fox, Leni and I discussed aging and body some today.
That chick's got a lot of good advice..just sayin'..

Nice to have another lady to talk to about such things on a forum, tho I do moan and groan about it much with my here and now girlfriends, plenty.
We tend to eat what we please in moderation, try to stay in shape and face what's coming.. one day at a time.

Me and Roxanne (my best friend) have made a pact today to start going back to the Y for swims and walks regular on our days off.

When I hit 53 next year, I'll post a pic of me in a bikini.
Itsy bitsy..

As for now, all I've got to offer is this old 90s pic.. with tan lines.. :whistling:

Yo Frank..:yum:
