On a Roll lately

I don't know how this always happens. But I have been falling into the best deals lately. I picked up a Dolmar PB 500R backpack leaf blower just now for $100.00. The guy wanted $125.00 for it. It is missing a few screws on the blower tube handle controls. He took my offer and I left a happy camper. I also picked up a coal/woodstove this morning that will hook into my forced hot water heating sys for $100.00. I probably could have gotten this for free as the old 80's+ folks would have had to pay someone to remove it. It has a large tank welded onto the top of the stove with a hot water coil built in for domestic hot water. I can't wait to hook this up and try it out. Unfortunately it will have to wait till my shoulder heals a bit more before I go messing with it. My brother gave me a hand picking it up this morning. Thank God for my front mounted truck winch. I was able to park right in the backyard up to his bulkhead. We pulled the stove up a flight of stairs on a dolly on two boards using the winch. My old tilt snowmobile trailer sure was handy for getting it home. Pictures to follow.

Damn.......... that stove looks very familiar. Did it come from CT?? I looked at one a few years ago, but the people didn't know for certain that they wanted to get rid of it at the time. If I remember correctly it was a home made unit by the brother in law that worked at Electric Boat. My recollection is Eastford or Union CT........ Junk... missing out on all the good deals because you keep scoffing them up.....

Junk, The guy I bought this stove from, said it came from a welder up in Clinton or Sterling Ma. He was making these stoves back in the late 70's and early 80's oil crunch. He wasn't sure exactly when. I can say that whoever made this did an outstanding job. There is even a set of rotating coal grates inside that can come out if you want to burn wood. There is angle iron in there to hold the firebrick in place.

I talked with my neighbor this evening that was with me when we saw it. He said that it was round and had a concave steel head at the back and the chimney was at the rear also. What was nice about that one, was the fact that you could stuff it with 4' logs and it would burn forever. As for where I would use it, I wouldn't. I would put it in my neighbors garage for when I use that. I am working at cleaning out the garage, and hopefully by next fall I will be done. Do you want to be notified when I have my estate sale????

I wish this stove could take a 4 footer. It can take 26" logs. I love estate sales. When is it? Do you have any good junk that you are getting rid of?
