Well this is the start of things to come. Tore one bad boggie wheel off and probably need to inspect the others as well. It's been sitting for 3 years so need to drain the fuel but the owner says it is a strong motor and he's done alot of work to it so we'll see.
The ser.# plate reads 58028 so is an older rig.
It's filthy as the owner just parked it after his last moose hunt three years ago and it has spuce needles caked all over it so needs good field day to get it cleaned up.
Track seems in good condition so that's good. He replaced the front belly pan with a 1/4" steel one he modified. He says no problem running over 5" dia. spruce tree's. Probable won't be doing that but nice to know I can. He also did some mods. with the braking system which needs to be gone over. Would be nice to have disc brakes that actually work.
Anyway, it's a sno trac and I'm excited about getting it running. sure I'll be posting with questions and appreciate any advise I can get as I know jack diddly about track rigs. I know. Don't turn the steering wheel unless the vehicle is moving.

It's an "OLDIE" all right. That engine looks like a 36HP, or early 1200(1192 CC 40 HP) Save the Crank Nut!, It's a collectors item and can be refitted to any VW engine allowing you to use the Hand Crank feature. Junk the engine. They are not very powerful, and are lously candidates for rebuilding. In that year, the Cam didn't even have bearings, it rode directly in the block. Put a 1600 in it. The step up from the 1192 CC motor, which only generated 35 HP in the industrial version, to 53 or more HP with a 1600 really makes a noticable difference.
Scratch around on the upper sections of the cab to see if it's the extreemly rare "Brass-Cab" that used sheet Brass instead of aluminum.
I'd be proud to be the owner of one of the first ST4's ever built.

Here's some pics. I'll get more details when we rebuild them.
