I self distracted by 2 little boys today while trying to install my new varriator belt and look what happened when i cranked the adjuster the wrong way .I had never tig welded cast aluminum before but the stuff used in snow tracs must be a hugh quality metal because look how nice it turned outground out a deep v and cranked the power up to 150 amps looks strong we will have to see if it holds up when i run it

Ouch! Broke the ST25. I've heard of this happening but haven't seen it. I guess it's designed to sacrifice itself before other things break. Great looking job on the weld. What tig outfit do you use?
 
i'll tell what taking it apart once its broke is one thing putting it back together is another set of bad words you have to drop the shives on than feed the hard to get to bolts in i now have a reason to repent on sunday.

i have a n old 300 amp lincon acdc box hooked up to a miller hf box and 300 amp water cooled torch it works good also have a miller wire feeder but normaly use it for steel will post some pics in the morning
 
Looks like a neat job.:clap: I've never tried welding aluminum, but have always considered it pretty tricky. I'd probably just end up with a melted puddle.:ermm:
