Oh Oh Annie, Our Yellow Lab

thcri

Gone But Not Forgotten
Annie our yellow lab ever since I can remember would catch flies and bees in mid air. The bees she must get them right away so she can't get stung. Well I think today she was not fast enough. She had to chomp a couple of times and I could tell the bee was alive longer than normal. Now a hour later this dog is sick, she won't lay down all she will do is stand with her head almost to the ground with her front legs looking like they will cave in at any moment. I think right now if the UPS man came she would just sit there and not go after him. Not that he has to worry but she puts up a good show. Any remedies out there that anyone knows of. We are leaving for our cabin, don't want to leave her alone and I sure don't want to have problems at our cabin with her. Called the vet but they are closed and will call back if I need them to.

which one is more important to you going to the cabin or taking the dog to the vet the cabin will be there long after the dog is gone:unsure:

Cabin is not important. But I do have a lot of people coming up thus the reason for even posting here. The dog comes before the cabin. However, Bob's benadryl was a good suggestion. Neighbor is a pharmacist and actually had an equivalent that was designed for dogs. Annie is at our cabin and doing just fine.

Good to to hear she's doing good. A honeybee fell in our small pond earlier this summer and one of the goldfish nabbed it. He swam to the bottom w/ it and spit it out. Then laid around on the bottom w/o moving much for 3 days. Thought we'd lose him but he finally snapped out of it. Seemed normal afterwards.

I guess I should wear my glasses more - I posted the poison control numbers and dis not see that the Benadryl worked. Very glad to hear that.

We keep the poisin control numbers handy. Labs are just like that.

Dog's philosophy on life - If you can't eat it or hump it P___ on it and walk away from it.

Annie was up early this morning to get me out of bed. Guy can't sleep late anymore. She has been in and out the water twice now, shook the water off both times in the cabin. She is doing just great. Thanks Bob S for the idea. And she was biting after the flies so I am sure she did not learn her lesson.

We had a Vet tell us to use Benadryl with one of our former dogs. If it is some sort of allergic reaction it can work like a charm.
