The float switch to pump the effluent to the leach bed quit but the current load of laundry was enough to make things overflow.
The first effluent tank is pretty clogged. Getting it cleaned out today. Hoping this fixes my issue.

Question: Being as the tank is clogged and water backed up into the house, do wax rings on toilets seal from water coming up from the pipe? It has the plastic flange which directs flow from the toilet down. Is the wax ring for a total, waterproof seal or is it "mostly" sealed but the wax itself is mainly to stop gases from the system from coming up (same function as a trap)?

Can't help you on the wax rings but I went through it last summer when our sewage pump quit and water(sewage) started coming up from the drain hole in the furnace room first. I wasn't home. Thankfully my wife and kids caught it right away and were quick to clean up the mess on the bare cement floor before it hit the laminated flooring in the hall.

I got a frantic 6am phone call at camp and rushed home an hour drive to deal with it. That was GROSS.

Flowing down hill would be nice.

Glad it was clothes washer water that backed up into the house. Easy to clean and no smell.

Got a call into the pumper truck company. Hoping they can come out today. If not, I'll call the milk hauling truck tomorrow morning. ;)

Just got done wiring in a new float switch. I don't like the way the electric plug looks inside the tank. Will look at testing and if needed, replacing that next.

All my homes have been on city service except my Wisconsin home.
It backed up with a washer load.
Turns out there was a filter on that house's septic and it was plugged because I didn't clean it annually, because I didn't know I had such a thing.
Still don't know why they would put a filter on a septic system.
Anyway, back on city so no issues any more.

I added a 3rd float to my daughters pump system so it had 3 floats one for pump 2nd for alarm 3rd to shut off her well pump to eliminate that problem her lowest point is a toilet in her garage luckily but it still creates a mess now the water shuts off and water is still below that level.

Tanker truck couldn't come today. :(

I now have a pit in my yard where I dug out to access the tank. 5' x 4' x 2' deep. Lots of rain expected tomorrow so that's not good.

With a shovel and a 1x2 stick, I go into the pit and start digging around in the tank. Found the pipe from the house to the tank. Hit that area hard with the 1x2 and voila! I got it unclogged. :) Glad I had my tall boots on as a lot of water came out of the pipe. Still glad it was clothes washer water and not poop.

Swirled all the shit and stuff so water could move in the tank. Oops. I had my cordless phone in my coat pocket. It fell out into the tank. Luckily it hit the hard/crusty stuff on top so not "too" dirty. Cleaned it with a baby wipe and will hit it with a good alcohol bath.

I did buy a 24" riser with cap awhile back. Installed that on the tank opening (so I don't have to dig big pits again) and shoveling and tractor loader use, re-filled the hole.

I'm back in business. Yea! Yesterday and last night, we had to go to the neighbor's house (not close) to use the bathroom. That really sucked last night at 3:15AM when I woke up and had to poop. 18° and a long walk to get it done. Never did get back to sleep.

Pumper truck will come Monday or so.
