OC-12 question

Hey all while driving my spryte down a few steep switch backs I noticed a pop when I pull on the right stick hard. A took a look in the diff and all the teeth seemed to be intact and no obvious issues. Under load climbing and turning no issues. It only seems to be on decent in a low gear it has an OC 12 rear and. It has new sprockets and track tension seems appropriate Any thoughts?

Most likely the track jumped on the drive sprocket. IE: If you were turning to the right while going down hill, this puts the most slack in the track and in turn creates a jump on the sprocket. It's actually a good thing, knowing your tracks are not too tight. This happening once in awhile is just fine on the down hill. Also, this approximate level of track tension provides the best traction.

I agree with @schmidt, in that I think it is your track tension/ sprocket skip. I experience more sprocket skips on the downhill as opposed to uphill. Especially now since it's been dry for the past month+ and the snow is harder, thus less forgiving on the tracks (they grip more now). I also run lots of hard switchbacks. It makes you cringe every time it skips, and if you have the ability in mid-winter you might just tighten your right track tensioner a tad. It's OK to have skips occasionally, but not consistently. Incremental turns help, but are nearly impossible on tight switchbacks. The common advice is to make short, deliberate turns on the sticks, but that simply isn't possible in many situations, like when you're turning a 160° switchback in thick timber.

Thanks for the info guys I guess it just worries me since it was only on the right side with hard breaking. I was worried there was some sort of gear issue in the rear end but it makes sense
